Karen's influences stem from architecture, the beauty of city landscapes and the Elizabethan era of flamboyant dress for its fine detailing and dramatic scale.

In her recent collection she uses stainless steel mesh cloth (an engineered techno fabric), hand-made paper and precious metals with textile techniques - folding, pleating, smocking, layering - to create a richly layered textural surface.

These extravagant layers create an opulent feel, recalling a past time of exaggeration and decoration.

Her work alludes to the past but is innovative and timeless.

Karen has recently graduated from The Cass, with a BA(Hons) in Jewellery & Silversmithing Design.
