I use them to explore picturesque nostalgia; capturing atmosphere and
emotional context to evoke recognition in the audience. Images of coast, caravans and gardens are predominant.
Each piece begins with observation, then composition exploration
through painting and collage. Ideas are sampled in textiles before constructing the final image.
Sometimes images reappear; transformed by scale or colour as a way of changing mood and story.
I use recycled fabrics where possible as this helps to build a sense of narrative in the work - it also helps preserve the landscapes I love.
