The concept of using wall plates to portray art via pictures or murals, first inspired me whilst a student studying as an undergraduate.
Initially and predominantly, I have endeavoured to portray plates that reflect the natural world.
The method of manufacture uses different colour glass, overlaid on top of each other, which is then spun using centrifugal force.
The pattern is then brought out by sand-blasting back each layer of coloured glass.
To complete the aesthetics of the plates I use an innovative mounting system so as not to detract from the composition of the pieces.
This gives the impression of floating within the frame.
The imagery that I have used for my Koi wall plate designs are based on photographs that have been taken of the inhabitants of my family's fish pond, at the family home.
My aim with all my work is to bring pleasure to all who see it.
